I am a retired lawyer working in my second career as an online marketer. Building an online business is not as easy as some folks would like you to believe. There are many directions to go in and it seems that most of them end up in dead ends. I can say that because I have been to many of them.

I’ve found that I’m very good at creating websites that get indexed quickly in Google, Yahoo and MSN with commercially valuable keyword phrases that make it to the front page of Google. That’s great, but I’ve also found that although a Google front page listing is a good start to building an online business it’s only the beginning. The internet now consists of billions of pages. Making your pages stand out from the crowd enough to attract buyers’ attention requires time and consistent effort.

Theory is great but most of us want to know what we can do now to get our site indexed and ranked in Google and then get free traffic coming to our site.

John makes $300+ a day from Adsense and he is very direct and straightforward about exactly how he does it. You could use this for a business model and duplicate his results – but please do not gloss over where he tells you that he has written more than 4,000 articles for ezinearticles.com alone. There is no free lunch.

John’s model has been very good for him and I hope his prosperity continues for many years to come. I did it for a while and increased my Adsense earnings by 5x in a few months before I ran out of interest and out of gas keeping up with 30+ websites. Maybe I just lack John’s self-discipline, but I had a gnawing feeling about hammering out 500 word articles on consumer products all day and putting all my faith in those ezinearticles.com backlinks to lead me to a pot of gold.

The future of internet marketing is Web 2.0 and it’s already here. I have changed my strategy to Web 2.0 articles marketing with all my focus going to only a few sites. This strategy is not any less work but at least now I know that no single Google algorithm change can kill my business because the footprints leading back to my sites will already be spread all over the net.

I have a variety of consumer product websites that already have rankings in the SERPs and backlinks from many C blocks. I am an army of one and cannot keep up with them without taking too much time away from my core business.
