Managing Multiple Profiles
In the best of the better-late-than-never tradition I have begun experimenting with Video/Social Media marketing. I will provide a more detailed explanation another time but in essence the strategy involves making a product video, posting the video on multiple video sharing sites, and bookmarking the video on multiple social bookmarking sites. I suppose that you could take this multiple posting thing to any degree you wanted. So far I’m working with only a small number of video sites and social bookmarking sites.
The first thing I learned was that managing multiple video sharing sites and multiple social bookmarking sites was an administrative nightmare. The reason it gets out of control quickly is that you need more than one profile for each separate site. For example, I began by promoting a product in the home decor field. Easy enough. It got complicated when I did my second video for a product in the apparel field.
It didn’t make sense to mix a shoe video with a patio cushion video, especially when you intend to follow up with a whole series of similar product promotions. I needed a profile for home decor and a separate profile for apparel. That way an apparel prospect could be sent to a page containing only apparel product promotions, and a home decor prospect to a page containing only home decor videos.
The solution for me was a program called RoboForm. There is a free version to get a feel for the program but it is not much better than your browser password memory function because the free version limits you to only one profile. The paid version ($29.95) allows any number of separate profiles. I recommend it.
